Dictionary tool in Mac OsX
Whilst I knew that the dictionary tool was in Mac OsX for quite some time I noticed today that it has a few additional features that are quite nifty. Primarily the thesaurus and being able to search wikipedia from within the same interface.

Sucks to be a tenant
(of a house for sale) Apparently the selling agent dropped an Open House notice in my letterbox yesterday morning. Of course I was at work and didn’t get home until quite late. Somehow that constitutes 24 hours notice for the open house that’s going on around me just after I walked in the door tonight. Had a word to the agent that more notice would have been greatly appreciated, (especially since they only had an open house two days ago!) but it’s done now, the people are already inside, making a scene really won’t accomplish much. People walking in and out, opening and closing cupboards, flicking my lights on and off, tapping on my walls and asking how they could “get rid of the tenant…” Even with the bulk of a 12 month lease behind me, the tenant is never … Continue reading

Optimistic
I must check my email sixty times per day hoping for to hear something. Modern technology allows for me to be extremely available but doesn’t help if the other party isn’t saying anything.

Facetime
My brother has one of the new iPod touches that supports facetime. The inconvenient thing about facetime is that calls can only be made over the wifi network. If he tries to call me but I’m not at home, my phone still rings and then advises me that it was unable to make the connection or I get a missed facetime call. Very odd that it would ring anyhow but not allow the connect. Why ring at all?

Moving on
The rental I’ve lived in for several years has been listed for sale. It’s not a flash house and as such it’s come in at the bottom of the market. There has been a constant stream of people sticking their heads around my house so I can only imagine the open house is going to be … traumatic? I’ve ages left on my lease but I’m preparing for the worst and have started packing for a move I may have to make. Taking the opportunity to throw out stuff I should have dealt with a long time ago. Given that a lot of the stuff I’m throwing out I’m classifying as junk, I can hear a ‘told you so’ voice in my head.. Timing sorted
After watching the “king of miata’s” videos on youtube I attempted my timing belt again. Spot on this time and the car runs like a dream. I was much quicker to pull it down and reassemble the second time.

Wrong tooth
I think I spoke too soon about not getting a tooth wrong on my cam belt. I’ve fixed the coolant leak at the rear of the head, but now I have discovered a larger and much more serious issue… No acceleration! The car starts an idles fine, and timing is set using my timing light. Car seemed to be ok as I pulled out of my driveway but as soon as I started accelerating it was apparent that something was wrong. No power and backfiring when I backed off. Took it straight back to my house, no point risking things. I guess on the weekend I’ll have to pull it down again. Something to keep my hands busy and my mind off things.
